Most weekends we stop at Primrose Bakery on the way home from wherever we are. Cupcakes for the girls and coffee from Melrose and Morgan for the folks.
I asked Kevin to get me the prettiest cupcake last week and this is what I got. As pretty as pretty could be, a delicate rose cupcake.
Sometimes we are a little late getting home and it’s already fifteen minutes past the girls’ mealtime and that’s when I know I’m really in trouble! On Sunday it was one of those times so I looked in the fridge and there they were, two pizza bases – my favourite spelt ones from Biona. I had an open jar of passata, a few slices of ham, mushrooms and some wonderfully tasty mature cheddar from Abel & Cole that I’d bought for the first time last week.
With little time to lose I then fully cheated and turned the oven to grill instead of bake. This delivered me pizza within 10 minutes as I didn’t even have to wait for the oven to heat up. Even better was the bases didn’t get too hot so the girls could eat the pizza pretty much straight away. I left the parents pizza in the oven a bit longer for fully hot bases.
This grilling of pizzas is a brilliant emergency option for getting hungry little mouths fed, pronto – although I’m sure the health and safety people wouldn’t recommend it.

It’s almost Spring! And with that time for a bit of a clean sweep. And some new growth.
With a few food projects under way this year and my growing realisation that I want to do more professional photography, I really need a proper food photography blog. And a proper photography portfolio site. So this weekend I set up Lovely Food and started work on my folio.
A few small tweaks later and I have a whole new updated look which I’ve also moved to A+B. My intention is to run both blogs equally. I will keep everyone posted here but please do subscribe to Lovely Food as that is going to be the repository for final recipes and food photos.

I love going to the Farmer’s market on a Saturday morning. It’s truly a sign of a lazy weekend – a lovely relaxed weekend when we don’t *have* to do anything. Apart from meander up to the farmers’ market, girls on the scooters. Us carrying the backpack and food bags.
Today we were early which meant we arrived before these little delights had all gone. Usually we get there an hour before it closes and I’d always wondered what the artisan tart ladies sold. I usually would see one or two rather splendid salads left so I did rather suspect a bit of magic we were missing out on.
Magic indeed. We’re going early next weekend for more.
