We were excited to take part in Uniqlo’s £100 family fashion challenge – to update our winter wardrobes with a budget of £100 to spend at Uniqlo.
My number one rule when buying clothes for the girls: Will they wear it? And will I let them wear it? So I carefully guided their choices to make sure they got something they’d definitely wear, but also something I like. Luckily, we are usually always 100% in agreement.
The Ivana dresses were an easy first choice. Our girls live in dresses – so easy to layer up and down depending on the weather. They haven’t stopped wearing these since they arrived last week so we’ve had a few night-time washes to keep them looking lovely.
And the shiny jackets were a huge hit. I was a bit hesitant about shiny, but after careful scrutiny I realised it was the lighting and we could safely order them – albeit only if they chose pale blue. And indeed they are lovely – almost a glowing ice blue, like little winter fairy jackets :)
The girls love going shopping but they tend to go a bit mad out at the shops, so I much prefer to shop online for them – where I can easily curate and narrow down the choices they’re given. They think they’re choosing and I get tastefully dressed children.
For mum the photographer I needed a new black jumper – perfect at £19.90 for lovely merino. The Cecilia Birtwell scarves were a fantastic price – on sale at £12.90 for two – but I think they’ve been appropriated by my little Uniqlo woodland fairies…
Thank you Uniqlo – we feel like we did really well with our £100 budget and have definitely spruced our winter wardrobes up with some good feature pieces.
