  • Up in the forest

This is my daily walk. A hop, skip and a jump from home. Usually I head up after lunch for a brisk half hour walk. This morning, with the sun low behind a hanging mist I dusted off my camera, quickly got some charge in my battery and trotted up.

  • Oh dear. Where did all the photos go?

Well. I’ll tell you where. I changed permissions on Flickr and then changed some back again. And in the process the image IDs changed so the links are no longer valid. It’ll take some time to fix.

  • Weekend Eats #1

Now I’m all excited about things again I spend my mornings on the train writing lists on my phone. Mostly lists with sub-lists and even further sub-lists with ideas of what to write about. And now I am indeed excited about things again and my mind is feeling a whole lot quieter and more peaceful…

  • An early Autumn garden tour

Well. Here it is. Our garden. Parts of it. I think I’ve worn myself out this weekend. It’s been such glorious weather. Yesterday Kevin and A. went up to London leaving me and E. here with a whole day stretched out in front of us to happily play in the garden. In my case dig.…

  • Sarah Raven’s Cutting Garden Journal

I must confess that when I received this book I had not heard of Sarah Raven. However in the past two weeks I have come to realise Sarah is quite a gardening celebrity – and obviously the reason I didn’t know who she was is that I don’t watch TV or read magazines. But now…

  • The house project rules

We all know the importance of having a nice place to come home to. A well thought out interior not only makes our lives more comfortable – it also makes us happier! So – with our new long-term home I am fairly excited to be starting the whole interiors project. This time I’m launching into…

  • Back to The Cotswolds

For August Bank Holiday weekend we booked ourselves a little stay at Honeysuckle. Hooray! Did you know it’s been almost two years since we stayed here? We moved up here in January 2013 and moved to East Sussex almost a year ago to the day. Late Summer at Honeysuckle Cottage – Daylesford Organic Farm Cornwell…

  • We’ve been picking a lot of flowers lately

Did I mention our amazing garden? Yes I did! The best thing about our new garden is we can take visitors out for a garden tour, quietly picking a posy of flowers as we walk. We finish the walk, go inside, tie the posy with twine and give our guests a lovely fragrant gift to…

  • Never was much of a one for curtains

These bits of fabric go back to the time I dropped Astrid on her head but at least not down the stairs when we were living in Mt Albert. I think I might, bit by bit, return old blog posts when they are relevant to my writing. Like this one. I still haven’t finished my…

  • Anknel and Burblets signing out and signing back in

Hello. If anybody is reading this who thinks I am or was ever an interior blogger I am quitting being an interiors blogger. See graphic below. If you have links to my blog on your blog I will not be remotely offended if you remove them now. In fact, I actively encourage you to do…

  • A very merry Christmas

What a wonderful Christmas this year with so many days holiday! A whole two weeks off this year. Which is brilliant as it means I can go swimming or running every single day. Heaven knows it’s going to be needed with a Christmas ham and a duck this year. Followed by Boxing Day. Followed by…

  • Beautifying the bathroom

Last week it rained and rained and rained and there was a huge storm up north. Which meant of course the trains were down. Any excuse and they stop running. Fortunately for me it was the Christmas party that night at my agency. I’d thought I wouldn’t be going – but I did and it…
